Put a smile on your face!

Hi boys and girls,

I must confess- I love internet new trend, GIFs.

I made a selection of the most hilarious GIFs about and for FA.

She was a flight attendant challendge.Day 1

Hi boys and girls,

Today I have a challenge for you!

we all like gossips about famous people, we want to know their secrets, their private life….recently I visited Stockholm, Sweden and I found a very curious thing that their Queen Silvia was a flight attendant. I must say my heart was bursting with pride, because I am a flight attendant too…

That’s why I decided to have 7 days of challenge, where I will write during these days about one famous person that were a FA!

Let’s know them, folks!

DAY 1 : Queen Silvia of Sweden (born Silvia Renate Sommerlath on 23 December 1943) is the spouse of King Carl XVI Gustaf, mother of the heir apparent to the throne, Crown Princess Victoria. In 2011, Silvia became the longest serving queen of Sweden. She is a trained interpreter, speaking 6 languages, and although born in a wealthy family, she used to work as a flight attendant and an interpreter. It was during the 1972 while working as an educational host during the Summer Olympics in Munich that she met her husband, then Crown Prince Carl Gustaf.

Stay hydrated during the flight!

Water – so simply, so vital and fundamental for us.

We usually feel most comfortable when the humidity in the air around us is about 40% to 70%. In the aircraft cabin it falls to about 20% . It is unlikely that our body  become seriously dehydrated. Staying hydrated during the flight its extremely important. I remember that every time after briefing we are asking each other if we have water with us…we are double checking, after all our safety and wellbeing comes first 🙂

During the flight in the cabin fresh air is constantly added to recycled air through very fine filters to remove 99.997% of all dust, viruses, fungi and bacteria. However, the air in the cabin has low humidity levels, which can cause mild drying of the skin, nose, throat, eyes and dehydration.

Here are the symptoms of dehydration:

  • Little or no urine, or urine that is darker than usual
  • Dry mouth
  • Sleepiness or fatigue
  • Extreme thirst
  • Headache
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness or lightheaded feeling
  • No tears when crying

To avoid all of these, while traveling, and during flight, drink at least 1 glass per hour, and avoid drinking alcohol, as alcohol actually dehydrates your body(8 hrs before your flight – no alcohol at all!!).I don’t recommend to drink any coffee or tea (which all have a diuretic effect), unless you compensate with even more water. Don’t worry if you have to keep getting up to go to the lavatory – the exercise might help prevent deep-vein thrombosis. After a long flight, another way to fill up your body water, and to relieve  travel stress, is to take a warm bath or soak in a hot tub or a pool. I tasted myself and I can guarantee that these methods really works …

Don’t wait until you notice symptoms of dehydration to take action. Actively prevent dehydration by drinking plenty of water.

To find out how much water you need to drink, check out the online water requirement calculator!http://www.csgnetwork.com/humanh2owater.html

Stay hydrated and have a nice flight!

Fatigue- deal with it!

Hi guys,

I am back after a month of silence. Took a short break from blogging because I had good reasons for it. IMG_8393Summer time is a crazy and super challenging period for a flight attendant. Besides doing your daily duties and tasks, you have to deal with rude/impolite/drunk passengers that are going on holiday and have decided to start partying on the plane, or kiddies that are feeling sick during the flight.I know many of us are complaining about “how tired and sick he/she is feeling, even it is 8:00 am”. You wake up tired, you feel exhausted, no energy for the entire day, and you can’t find a way to boost your energy.

At some point, I feel the same. It affects your health, your emotional state, and of course your ability to function at your maximum level! The flight attendant life is not just glamour, foreign destinations, gorgeous pilots, beautiful cabin crew, going places or experiencing a level of adventure that the majority envies and will never quite understand. There is another side, which I’ve had to deal with, and try my best. In my case, there is no time to feel tired. Passengers expect to see your smile, they are looking forward to their new adventure and you are there to improve their flight experience. My co-workers don’t have time to deal with a person who is complaining – that’s why you must bring THE SUNSHINE TO THEIR LIFE- you will feel better and people around you will feed off that, which is great!

Here is some tips to wipe out tiredness, fatigue and a general lack of energy:

  • IMG_8395Stay hydrated! Drink water – make sure you are drinking enough water. Ideally it should be oxygen rich, negatively charged alkaline water that you can make at home. You need half your body weight in ounces each day. So if you weigh 160, you need 80 oz. of alkaline ionized water a day to keep up with your needs and avoid fatigue. You can also try an all natural energy drink that supplies you with extra Iron, Phosphorus, Iodine, Magnesium, and Potassium, along with natural Guarana.IMG_8394
  • Reserve your good 8-10 hrs of sleep. Of course, as a flight attendant, it is very hard to establish a bedtime routine. However, I need to get used to having very irregular sleeping hours, but I always trying to have at least 6 hrs of sleep. For example, I have a sleeping eye mask, that I love. Before going to sleep, I am using my calming body spray. You can also use a relaxing sleep pillow mist spray! Also, it is important to make your bedroom a sanctuary for sleep – have the right mattress and pillow, keep it a quiet, cozy, and cool place to get good rest!
  • Take the time to eat well! If you are always in a hurry, don’t grab fast food.Make sure that you give attention to proper vitamins, minerals and nutrients in your diet especially if you have long haul flights.
  • caffeineAddictCaffeine overdose! I love coffee, but I must say I feel energised and full of life if I start my day with a green smoothie or an apple. Many of us are overdosing on energy drinks that are full of caffeine and sugar. This may have a short term effect, but usually ends with a crash after a a few hours. This turns into a vicious cycle of fatigue, caffeine, more fatigue, and more caffeine. This can also stress out your adrenal glands and lead to adrenal gland fatigue, night sweats, or even heart palpitations.
  •   Get moving! Exercise, go to the gym or take a walk, play tennis, football, attend one of the Zumba or fitness classes etc. I started my spinning class (and I must admit that I hate sports, any type.. I need to push myself) but after 30 mins of exercise I feel very energised and extremely good! it really helps….don’t get lazy, force yourself to get out of your comfort zone and unhappy mood.get-moving
  •  Challenge yourself! Find something that you enjoy doing. Plan some time to do it – and do it! Try to stimulate your thinking faculties – what intrigues you, what do you want to learn more about? Try learning something new. For me, listening to TED talks, shopping, exploring new places, writing this article is making me happy and proud of myself which I am definitely not bored!
In conclusion, my personal opinion is that you don’t ‘get used to jet lag and to that specific fatigue’, as you are only human at the end of the day and sleep deprivation affects us all in some form or another, however, you do learn to accept it and cope with it better, as you simply have to, as it’s a way of life.
If you like your 9-5 routine and long lazy Sunday mornings in bed then this might not be the job for you.
IMG_8392
I follow my own dreams and advice because this is my life and I have the power to control or to change it if something is going wrong. There is always a way to make you feel better – you just need to stay focused on want you want in life, but mostly, to enjoy it!

Q/A- your lilttle guide helper to GET SELECTED! Part 1

Hey lovelies,

I’m starting a new series of articles with possible questions that you can be asked for the final interview and of course with “possible” best answers example. I am posting this articles to help as many people as I can.I believe that the more you give, the more you receive. I truly believe that the key to success in your cabin crew assessment day is preparation. I must say that these questions were very helpful to me during my interview, my source of inspiration is Kara Grand, basically she is the author of these Q/A, however I made a selection for you, so you can use them as an example!

Knowing what to expect and showing the best you can be are crucial factors in the process. Below you will find a list with possible questions that you can get on your 1-on-1 interview! Take a look, get some notes, prepare your answer and go their and SHINE!

  • Tell me about yourself

Remember to stay professional during your final interview. This question is meant to ask you about your career and detailed work history. It is not about your childhood, home or hobbies. Remember that you are being interviewed for a cabin crew job, so your response should be focused on the relevant customer service job experience.

Try to keep it short, this question is just a conversation starter.

#TIP Do not reveal information that you don’t want your future employer to know.

SAMPLE ANSWER

“I have been working for the past 3 years for Company X. I started out as part-time junior sales advisor, and have been promoted to senior sales advisor. Meanwhile I graduates from university Y and get my economics degree”

  • Why do you want to work for our airline?

Do not go to your interview without doing some research about the company you would like to work for. Browse their website and read the “About us” section. The first part of the assessment day consists of a series of informative videos about the airline, how it was created, plans of expansion, financial results, life in their city, career prospects and other relevant information. Take some notes and review them before your final interview.

#TIP Do not explore unknown territory. If the interviewer brings up a certain subject that you don’t know much about, be honest and tell them so.

SAMPLE ANSWER

“I know that your company has been one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, with numerous awards won (give some examples here) and openness towards cultural diversity. I would be honored to be part of such an ambitious team”

  • Do you work better in a team or alone?

This is not an easy question to answer, however it is frequently asked during final interviews. You are interviewing for a cabin crew position. A key requirement for this job is teamwork.

#TIP Do not answer “it depends on the situation”

SAMPLE ANSWER

“I prefer to work in a group/team, but I also enjoy having a part of the work that is my personal responsibility”

Bangkok-Thailand, October 11 unidentified Qatar Airways airhostess rest waiting for flight transportation in airport Bangkok October 11 in Bangkok Thailand

  • Tell me about a time when you helped someone.

Be prepared with some examples of situations when you helped either a customer or a colleague. Stay focused on the required skills for the cabin crew position. Use the names of your colleagues or customers.

SAMPLE ANSWER

“Mrs. Houston, a regular guest in our hotel has just checked in together with her niece and twin babies. We were not informed that the babies will need sleeping cots, so the arrangements have not been made and we only had one cot available. I talked to our manager and explained the situation. We ordered a new cot that was delivered later in the same day, so I made sure that the room was arranged, together with complimentary toys and blankets and the schedule of the baby sitter. Both Mrs.Houston and her niece were very grateful, and my manager praised my efforts”

  • Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a co-worker who wasn’t doing his/her fair of the work. What did you do and what was the outcome?

Keep your answer professional, short and clear.Focus more on what you did to deal with the situation, rather than how much you were bothered by your colleague not doing their work.

#TIP Turn your answer into a positive experience.

SAMPLE ANSWER

“Anna was my shift colleque. During lunch service I saw her being slow to take orders and attend to the new customers. I had to step in her area and do part of her work. After the service was over I asked her what was happening. I learned that her grandmother was gravely ill and she just received the news that morning. I helped her out for the next days until she felt better. She appreciated my willingness to do something for her and we are now working very well together, taking extra work from each other whenever its necessary”

9 tips for “standby” travelers

Hi guys,

Today we will talk about one of the most popular subjects, especially during the summer when all of us are going on holiday and are using our companies right to fly “free”

Of course, one of the” best thing” to work for an airline (cabin crew, pilots, ramp agent, reservation department, etc….) is that you are lucky enough to get a buddy pass, or flying “free”.But as exciting as the idea of being issued a buddy pass, or flying “free” is, there are many specifics that people do not take into consideration when they are issued a buddy pass. I understand that many airline employees don’t work on the plane. We cant all be pilots and flight attendants! However, everyone who is in possession of a “free” ticket still need to know how to behave when they walk themselves, and their families, onto an airplane.

Tips for everyone who travel standby:

1. Check In As Soon as Possible: Arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to your departure. Ask at the reservation desk when you can drop off the bags.Be patient, be polite – I am sure that your colleagues will do everything they can just to put you on that plane.Behave in a professional and responsible manner.

2. Introduce Yourself: Present yourself. After all, we are colleagues! As you walk onto the airplane you simply say, “Hi. I’m John. I work in the company too, in the reservation department! I’m in 20B. If you need anything you can find me there.” So simple, nice and polite.

3. Take Your Seat: If you have a seat assignment, locate your seat and sit down. Be prepared and have everything you need before you take your seat.Step outside the aisle and let the other passengers take their seats. In this way you will help everyone…!

4. Control Your Children: If you have children and are flying standby, PLEASE control them. Don’t let them run up and down the aisle or climb on the seat in front of them or even worse sit with them in the galley while we are doing the service or having a break.

5. Overhead Bin Space: Just like the passenger who paid full fare for their travel experience you must share the overhead bin space. You may work for the airline, but that doesn’t mean you get an entire bin.

6. Don’t Expect Anything Free: Nothing is for free. Expect flight attendants to charge you for your order.

7. Be Cool , Prepared and Helpful: When you travel standby, try to be helpful to your colleagues. You already know that before take off and landing you have to stow the table, armrest down, fasten your seatbelt etc. Don’t make your flight attendant correct your behaviour.

8. Don’t Make A Mess: This is self explanatory. We often come through with trash bags so we should never walk by the row where an employee of the airline is seated where it looks like you have thrown your trash behind your seat. Trust me…we know where you live / sit! 🙂

9.Stay Behind To Clean: Some airlines make their flight attendants clean the airplanes after they land, which is hard especially during short turnarounds. I know – it’s disgusting. I hate it. Everyone hates it! Bend over almost 100 times a day to pick up trash from the seat back pockets is not the nicest thing. Keep your seat clean and remember – you just flew to another country for FREE!

Follow these simple rules the next time when you walking onto the airplane to fly standby.

Stay positive and friendly!

Open Days vs Assessment Days

Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar, Ryanair, Thomas Cook si multe alte companii aeriene  organizeaza atat Open Days cat si Assesment Days.

Day (OD) si Assesment Day (AD)?

Open Days

Assessment Day

Assessment Day este alcatuit din mail multe etape in care esti testat/a in fel si chip.

Cum se desfasoara Assesment Day

In cazul in care participi la un Open Day/Assesment Day si esti respins/a pe parcurul interviului, poti participa la un nou Open Day/Assesment Day abia dupa 6 luni. In cazul in care ajungi si la interviul final, dar totusi esti respins, recrutorii te mai primesc la o noua discutie abia dupa un an.

Poti aplica aici: http://public.vueling.com/Seleccion/Home/DetalleOferta/3de39226-ee6e-4218-980c-d14b25854869

2.British Airways angajeaza insotitori de bord

british-airways1
